Thomas is a veteran who has had amazing success with Hilltop Physical Therapy. Thomas is diagnosed with a C4 quadriplegia spinal cord injury and was never expected to walk again.
During one fateful session, inclement weather caused the elevator to shut down and 911 had to be called. Five rescue men arrived on the scene and were hesitant in taking Thomas down the stairs while he was in his 400Ib. wheelchair. It was too risky; they decided that they would have to carry Thomas down the stairs.
Thomas had other plans. Refusing to be carried, Thomas insisted that he would walk down the stairs instead. A Hilltop PT assistant and two rescue men guided Thomas down twenty-two steps that fateful evening.
Thomas has succeeded all expectations. With his willpower and consistent work with the PT’s at Hilltop, he was able to stand and walk with his walker. As a result, he is able to check his mail, do light shopping, and drive himself to therapy. Thomas is proof you can break free from your limitations with the right guidance. He is a hero to his family and a role model to our patients & staff.
